Port o' Call began several years ago when Monique Bouchard and Brian and Jae Hubbard first sang together at a Society of Creative Anachronism (SCA) medieval event around a campfire.
Sharing a love of music and each other's company, we started singing weekly for pleasure and called ourselves The Pirates' Booty.
However, it soon felt a bit trendy, and restrictive, to be just singing pirate music ALL the time...So we suffered a sea change and became Port o' Call, which, since we sing everything from sea shanties and traditional folk songs to madrigals and medieval music, seemed to make more sense.
First singing out at Bangor-area pubs (and anyplace with pleasing acoustics - stairwells, churches, Fort Knox…) Port o'Call has performed at museums, libraries, parks, and private events.
Thus far, it has netted us the occasional passionate fan, many free beers and new friends, great stories and a $400 bottle of champagne.
